Kuuluisa ateisti löysi Jumalan

Huraa!! Luen Antony Flewn kirjaa There is a God. Flew on filosofian professori ja (oli) yksi maailman tunnetuimmista ateisteista. Kun Flew kääntyi teistiksi, media kohisi siitä maailmanlaajuisesti. "Famous Atheist Noe Believes in God: One of World's Leading Atheist's Now Believes in God, More or Less, Based on Scientific Evidence" otsikoi Associated Press 9.12.2004.

The intellectual dignitaries of the world were shocked! What they heard could not be true! On December 9, 2004, the Associated Press broke the news that the legendary British philosopher Antony Flew, who had been leading the cause of atheism for more than half a century, had changed his mind and decided that there must be a God. Pidän todella paljon Flewn kirjan lauseesta: "...my discovery of the Divine has been a pilgrimage of reason and not of faith." Vihdoinkin joku pukee sanoiksi oman kokemukseni.

Filosofina Flew oli sitoutunut seuraamaan periaatetta: "follow the argument wherever it leads". Ja lopulta hän koki todisteiden puhuvan Jumalan olemassaolon puolesta ja seurasi periaatteensa mukaisesti johtolankojen perässä Jumalan luokse.

Flew ei kuitenkaan usko persoonalliseen Jumalaan vaan enemmänkin Einsteinin tavoin jonkinlaiseen ihmisjärjen ylittävään älylliseen voimaan.

Einsteinin sanoin:

"Everyone who is seriously engaged in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that the laws of nature manifest the existence of a spirit vastly superior to that of men, and  one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble."
